More than 30 leaders from across the state visited Mesabi Metallics, Minnesota’s first new mine, beneficiation plant and pellet plant in 50 years
[NASHWAUK, MN] – Mesabi Metallics Company LLC (Mesabi Metallics) recently welcomed alumni from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce’s Leaders Lab program to its Nashwauk site. More than 30 participants from across the state met with company leadership and toured the project to see firsthand how Mesabi Metallics is investing in jobs, Green Steel innovation and in the Iron Range’s future as Minnesota’s first new iron ore mine, beneficiation plant and pellet plant in 50 years.
“Seeing the scale of this operation in person brings to life the impact Mesabi Metallics has and will continue to have on Minnesota’s economy,” said Joe Broking, President & CEO of Mesabi Metallics. “It’s exciting to share our story with emerging leaders from across the state through the Minnesota Chamber.”
Leaders Lab is the Minnesota Chamber’s premier leadership development program, offering four two-day sessions that give participants a deep dive into what drives the state’s economy and how policy affects business success.

Visits like these deepen their appreciation of our state’s key industries and strengthen connections across sectors,” said Doug Loon, President & CEO of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. “Seeing the scale and innovation of Mesabi Metallics’ operation in person was truly impressive.
