[NASHWAUK, MN] – This week, employees of Mesabi Metallics Company LLC (Mesabi Metallics) participated in the company’s semiannual cleanup along Highway 169 between Nashwauk and Keewatin.
The cleanup is part of Mesabi Metallics’ ongoing participation in Minnesota’s Adopt a Highway program, which the company joined in 2023. Through this initiative, employees volunteer twice each year to maintain a key stretch of highway near the company’s site, reinforcing Mesabi Metallics’ commitment to environmental responsibility and community partnership.
“Caring for the environment and our communities is part of who we are,” said Joe Broking, President & CEO of Mesabi Metallics. “Coming together for projects like this is about more than picking up litter—it’s about demonstrating our shared commitment to the Iron Range and our responsibility to leave it better than we found it.”
The semiannual cleanup is one of several initiatives through which Mesabi Metallics supports the Iron Range, including environmental stewardship, educational initiatives and local development efforts. By combining operational excellence with active community engagement, the company is working to build a sustainable and thriving future for the region.
