Mesabi Metallics is seeking an experienced Design Engineer specializing in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation systems, responsible for managing and executing complex projects in the steel sector, with a focus on iron ore mining, beneficiation, pelletization, and downstream iron & steel making. The incumbent will lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of electrical and automation systems, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards throughout the project.
Mesabi Metallics is seeking an experienced Design Engineer specializing in Process and Piping, responsible for leading and managing projects within the steel industry, particularly in iron ore processing, pellet plants, beneficiation plants and downstream iron & steel making. This individual will ensure the successful execution of leading engineering projects from conceptualization through commissioning, with a focus on process optimization, piping design, and construction management. The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring that mining operations comply with environmental laws, regulations, permits, and company standards. This role supports sustainable mining practices by monitoring environmental performance, managing permits, coordinating environmental programs, and working closely with operations to minimize environmental impacts throughout the mine lifecycle.
We are seeking a Lead Autonomous Haulage Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, implementation, and commissioning of an Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) for our Taconite Mine Operation in Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range. The system will utilize 400-ton haul trucks (e.g. Komatsu 980E-4AT) in coordination with the Komatsu PC7000 shovel. This is a hands on, strategic leadership role focused on developing a reliable technical and operational framework tailored to the abrasive taconite ore and the region’s extreme environmental conditions, including sup-zero temperatures. Working closely with teams across mine planning, IT, operations, maintenance, and OEM partners like Komatsu, the engineer will ensure seamless AHS integration, full MSHA compliance, and secure IT/OT infrastructure to manage cybersecurity risks. Additionally, the engineer will lead workforce training initiatives and support sustainability goals through improved fuel efficiency and system optimization.
The Manager – Lab and Quality Control is responsible for leading all laboratory and quality control operations, ensuring compliance with internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This role oversees sampling, testing activities, manages QC personnel, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures accurate, timely analytical results that support safe and reliable product release.
The Manager – Mine is responsible for overseeing all aspects of mining operations, including planning, production, safety, staffing, budgeting, and environmental compliance. This role ensures efficient, safe, and profitable operations while maintaining adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. The Mine Manager leads a team of supervisors, engineers, and operators to achieve operational goals in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Mesabi Metallics is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mine Surveyor with expertise in CAD and GIS software to join our team. This role will involve creating and maintaining detailed CAD drawings and GIS data related to mining projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in mining environments and be proficient in both CAD and GIS software.
Mesabi Metallics is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to optimize our concentrator and pellet plant operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and improving process recovery and product quality, evaluating equipment performance and recommending improvements, adjusting operating parameters to meet target product specifications, and troubleshooting plant issues.
We are looking for an experienced Refractory Engineer to join our Projects team at our Nashwauk, MN facility. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the selection, installation, inspection, maintenance, and performance monitoring of refractory linings across high-temperature equipment and process areas within the steel plant. These include the pellet plant, beneficiation plant, concentrator plant, and crushers.
This is a key role focused on ensuring equipment reliability, process safety, and thermal efficiency through expert refractory management.
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving asset reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and optimizing maintenance strategies across equipment and systems. This role applies reliability engineering principles, data analysis, and root cause methodologies to increase equipment availability, safety, and lifecycle value.
Mesabi Metallics is looking for a Safety Technician with to support the implementation and enforcement of workplace safety programs. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of MSHA standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing incidents, and promoting a culture of safety across all site operations.
The Administrative Assistant will serve as the single point of contact for all administrative, facility, and site-support requirements at the Mesabi Metallics construction site. The role involves day-to-day coordination with multiple internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to ensure smooth site operations, infrastructure readiness, and employee support.
The Shift Supervisor – Mine Operations role plays a key leadership role in the safe, efficient, and organized development and operation of our iron ore mine. This hybrid role combines traditional mine shift supervision with dispatch responsibilities, ensuring optimal utilization of equipment, personnel, and resources. Prior to full-scale operations, the Shift Supervisor will actively support mine development activities, including operating equipment as needed, while helping build operational systems, procedures, and workforce readiness. Once operational, the role transitions into coordinating daily production activities, managing shift personnel, and overseeing dispatch functions to meet safety, production, and cost targets.
Mesabi Metallics is seeking an experienced Design Engineer specializing in Structural Engineering, responsible for leading and managing the design, analysis, and execution of structural components for steel industry projects involving iron ore mining, beneficiation, pelletization, and downstream iron & steel making. The incumbent possesses expertise in steel structures essential to support the heavy industrial demands of the steel sector.
The Supervisor – Construction, during the project phase, is responsible for driving the daily execution of project activities within the assigned area with primary focus on construction progress, workforce coordination, and site productivity. The role ensures timely advancement of work through effective mobilization and deployment of manpower, materials, tools, and equipment in alignment with project schedules. The Supervisor – Construction oversees day-to-day site operations, directs the craft workforce, and ensures that all construction activities are preformed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The position requires close monitoring of productivity, proactive identification of constraints, and prompt resolution of on-site issues in coordination with Area In-Charge.
The Warehouse Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely flow of materials, products, and supplies through the warehouse. This role coordinates with purchasing, operations, suppliers, and logistics teams to track orders, resolve delays, and maintain accurate inventory levels. The expeditor acts as a key link between the warehouse and other departments to support smooth production and shipping schedules.
