Supporting COMMUNITY

Mesabi Metallics is one of the largest private investment projects in the state of Minnesota. The jobs, economic development and taxes generated by this project can support northeast Minnesota communities for generations. The project will support more than 700 construction jobs during the construction phase. Following the construction phase, the operations will employ over 350 full-time jobs and indirectly create over 700 additional jobs in the region.

“This is a huge economic engine for our region, not just for Itasca County… Thousand construction jobs, 350 good paying jobs with benefits when the plant starts production, and who knows, hundreds of jobs in spin offs across Northeast Minnesota.”
– Itasca County Commissioner
